Often when performing a clinical trial it is important for a statistical unit, independent from the overall clinical trial, to gather data and report interim results on efficacy, safety and toxicity, to a Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) responsible for monitoring these activities. C-TASC has served as a Randomization and Interim Analyses Center (RAIAC) for numerous studies in the areas of cardiology and septic shock. Dr. Thompson has served on a large number of DSMBs, and is knowledgeable about the structure of DSMB reports and how data should be presented to a DSMB to allow the board to quickly and efficiently arrive at the correct decision about continuing or not continuing the study.
